Arguably the most famous building in the world, the Taj Mahal is a magnificent monument that took 21 years and thousands of skilled workmen to build, and that is taken by millions around the world as a monument to romantic love.
Located in the heart of Agra, capital of India during the Moghul era, hundreds of years ago, the Taj, as it’s also know, was built by the Moghul emperor Shah Jahan, in memory of his late , beloved and favourite wife, Mumtaz Mahal.Heart broken by her death, the emperor planned the Taj as his late wife’s tomb where she would be enshrined. Work on the Taj began in 1632, with a workforce estimated at 20000 men drawn from across present day Asia, and the mausoleum was finally completed in 1653.
